The logistics of the bird...

I have to get a 9-10 pound Perdue bird for Sunday. So of course, I'm already planning it's transport from Connecticut to Massachusetts. I hope I have a cooler big enough. But my efforts will be rewarded because Mike says Beth is an awesome cook. I can't wait.

I'm stopping by the Three Dog Bakery to get treats for the boys. I told Murphy that tonight we'd go and get a present for Reggie at PetsMart. He did the best head tilt to that comment. I love my boy.

http://www.tapasonline.com/
Gyro (prounounced yee-ro) is a rotisserie meat, or by extension the pita sandwich it is usually found in. In addition to the meat, there are also various salads and sauces inside the pita. The most common fillings are tomato, cucumber, and onions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyros

In English, this translates to yum, yum, yum! My friend Donna and I grabbed lunch at Tapas on Ann and I got a gyro platter with seasoned chicken. So good! And I'm so stuffed. Tapas is this tiny place on Ann Street that has really good food. You can eat in or order at the counter and take it back to the office. So worth a stop if you're ever in Hartford. And, the people that own it also own the Corner Pug in West Hartford. So they have to be good people if they are pug people, right?

I was going to take a picture of my gyro, but well, I had to devour it because it was so damn good. I ate the whole thing, the salad and the rice. But I left the olives. I offered them to Donna, but she declined. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The stars at night are big and bright!

That's right. My plane tickets to Texas are all booked. I can't wait to see my friend Allie. She came up here in September. I consider one of my good friends, even though we met on PV and I've only met her once. But it's always great to pick up the phone and hear her voice. She's a wonderful person, and I'm so excited to see her and visit Texas. We'll also be going to Louisiana to meet Ann, who is also on PV. Ann is one of the board moderator and I respect her so much. She's a class act and really keeps our board running smoothly!

I'll be there for Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait!

Go Sasha

I haven't been watching much of the Olympic action because well, I'm always running around like a mad woman. But last night I got home just in time to catch some of the figure skating action.

My friend Drew said that figure skating is a big spectator sport for gay men. He said he and his boyfriend went to see the skaters at the Hartford Civic Center and it was just an experience. He said everyone was wearing tee-shirts of their favorite skater and holding signs. He said he's not that enamoured by it but is happy to catch the Olympic action on t.v.

I talked to him yesterday and he said he was going to try and catch some of the figuring skating competition. I said to him, "What tee-shirt will you be wearing?"

I'm happy for Sasha Cohen because all the attention has been on Emily Hughes. I'm glad she's shining bright. I don't have to work Thursday night so I'll be able to see the nail-biting long progams. Go Sasha!

On another note, I loved Irina Slutskaya's pants outfit. Very sassy!

Virgin Radio

I've been listening to this station on iTunes and I'm addicted. I love listening to the British news and traffic reports and hearing the wonderful accents. It's awesome. Go hear it for yourself: http://www.virginradio.co.uk/

I'm definitely linking to this site when my permanent site is up. Please note their disclaimer about linking to their site:

Please don't put these banners on pages which promote anything illegal or contain adult content. Or Britney Spears. Or Gareth Gates. Or Darius. Or anything else that could be quite offensive.

How can you note love British humor? I have to get back to England and stay for more than a day.

Good hair day...

I spent five minutes before getting into my car, attempting to take a picture of myself with my camera phone because I thought I had a good hair day. If the neighbors didn't think I was crazy before, they've confirmed it now. At first I tried to look at the reflection in the window of my car of my phone to position it correctly. All the pictures showed a not so attractice angle of me. So I winged it and on the last try I got a decent picture.

What do you think?

Enter, the new girly geek...

I just purchased the rights to my own URL so I can move both of my blogs to my own site and have a little more freedom. I'm very excited about this new venture but I'm nervous, too. I hope I can tackle all of this foreign technology. I do have a great partner in crime. He's a professional geek, whereas I am just hoping to get up enough geek skills to keep my site going strong.

And now for that moment of truth. The new site will be: www.newsie96.com.

If you're on PV, you're still guessing at Mike's secrets thread. If you're here. SURPRISE! The kitty is out of the bag.

Kudos to my friend Mike, and his friends Paul and Beth who have graciously offered their services in helping me get this going. All I need to do is bring "the bird." And maybe buy Mike a few lunches, after I've asked a million dumb questions and tired his brain out.

A night out with the youngins....

I'm training a new girl at my part time job. She's going to take over some of my days so I'll have more time to myself. (Little does my boss know that as of June 1, I'll have a lot of time to myself, because I'm going to quit. She's been in a bad mood lately, so I'll save that chat for another time.)

Anyway, said girl is 22 years old. Very nice and sweet and full of energy. She asked me to hang out with he and her friends on Saturday night. We grabbed a bite at J. Tim's and instead going going to see Firewall, we went to a Mexican restaurant for drinks. I stuck with beer while they sipping, nope, chugged down all the Margarita's on the menu. By 10:30, when they were headed to bar #3, I bailed. I had to get Murphy and I didn't want to go to bed too late and waste my whole Sunday sleeping the night off. I had laundry to do and grocery shopping and I wanted to try and get to church. In other words, with a condo, a dog and a life to get on with, I had to be responsible. They had a bed to go home to and parents to make their breakfasts in the morning.

What a difference a decade can make. But I'm really not blue about the whole perspective. I'm actually pleased with my life and all that's under my belt. Life is good.

Jesus is crazy about you....

Ok, before you decide to move on to the next blog, this isn't a religious rambling. It's just what the sermon at church today was about. We had a visiting monk today in church and he was pushing this service the church was holding for part of the week. He was pretty entertaining though. Worth getting out of bed for even.

I have my issues with the Catholic church these days and even though I'm not embracing it like I used to, I still attend Mass when life isn't too hectic. I'm usually caught in a debate in my head between what they are preaching and what my individual beliefs are during the service. Sometimes I'm silently growling at one of our priests while he "blesses us all." This has been teh case since he gave one sermon many months ago about how Jesus preached about the evils of the world - including homosexuals. I'm pretty sure Jesus would have welcomed and respected them just like he did every other group. I'm a little sensitive in this subject. Ok, more than a little sensitive. But I'll leave that for another blog.

Ok, so maybe this was a relgious rambling. Ah well....

Breakfast....

I have all day training today on Web usability and so I darted out the door without breakfast. (Not without coffee, because that's a sin. I can't start the day without a big mug of froofie coffee. Today's flavor was Southern Peacan... yum!)

So I had my heart set on the most wonderful oatmeal the cafe in our buiding serves. I piled on the brown sugar and a tablespoon of raisins. I took a big bite of this piping hot delight. What a disappointment. It was watered down! Blech! But I felt that since I purchased it, I had to eat it. I'm filing a complaint. Bad oatmeal is just wrong. And I'm not sure the hummus I threw in my lunch bag will make up for it. It's sun-dried tomato flavor, but it's not a crowd favorite. I'll let you know after lunch.
